Museum Poldi Pezzoli

It is one of the most important museum-houses in Europe, an example of the taste of one of the finest art collections in the nineteenth century.

The aristocratic residence of the noble Gian Giacomo Poldi Pezzoli (1822-1879) is the frame of an exceptional collection of Italian paintings and also a unique collection of decorative arts: weapons, porcelain, glass, textiles watches and jewelry. The Museum is a large apartment overlooking a quiet garden. Opened in 1881 it was enlarged and enriched through time of artistic works. Astonishing are the 25 rooms, furnished with taste of the romantic era.
Thanks to generous donations (more than a thousand objects in the last fifty years) the Museo Poldi Pezzoli can now boast one of the most prestigious European collections. In the unique atmosphere of the reconstructed rooms, paintings by great masters coexist in perfect harmony with furniture and objects of decorative art of extraordinary quality.
